Brand New Games Coming in October: Call of Duty BO6, Silent Hill 2

Games Coming Out in October 2024

This October, the gaming world is hosting a plethora of horror and action titles. Here are the games coming out this month:

Until Dawn (October 4)

Alt text Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5
Supermassive Games is revisiting Until Dawn. If you didn’t give it a chance back in the day, take a look - that is, if you’re into horror games.

Silent Hill 2 (October 6)

Alt text

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5
This month, the horror genre classic Silent Hill 2 is back. Developed by Bloober Team, the game adds modern touches while staying true to the original. It looks like Konami’s attempt at a remake without spending too much. Don’t set your expectations as high as the Resident Evil remakes.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred (October 8)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
The first expansion pack for Diablo 4.

Metaphor: ReFantazio (October 11)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S Not much to say here, I’m not into Atlus games at all. Those interested will probably go “Oh yeah, that game existed” when they see it.

Starship Troopers: Extermination (October 11)

Alt text Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
A Starship Troopers game. We can roughly sum it up as the FPS version of Helldivers 2. You hunt bugs with your team. I’m planning to play it if I get the chance. I’d also recommend the book.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure (October 15)

Alt text Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch
Life is Strange with time travel.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead (October 17)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
A horror game set in the universe of the film of the same name. As the name suggests, you need to play by paying attention to sounds.

Sonic X Shadow Generations (October 22)

Alt text Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch
I’m a simple person. I want to play when I see Sonic, but I don’t.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (October 25)

Alt text Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One
The first Call of Duty game to come to Game Pass on day one. I don’t have much hope after the MW3 fiasco, but I’m still expecting a good story mode.

Batman: Arkham Shadow (October 2024)

Platforms: Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S
Let’s milk the Batman from the Arkham games in VR too.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard (October 31)

Alt text Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
BioWare is trying to return to its glory days with the Dragon Age series. The new game in the venerable RPG series. The game was originally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. However, they suddenly changed its name to The Veilguard a month ago. It’s a game I’m eagerly waiting for. I hope it comes out soon so BioWare can finally make the new Mass Effect.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered (October 31)

Alt text Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5
Sony thinks there’s still milk to be squeezed from Horizon Zero Dawn and is coming to sell a polished version of a game that’s only a few years old.

This month will also see an expansion pack released for Alan Wake II. The exact release date hasn’t been announced yet. Additionally, To the Moon will be coming to next-gen consoles.

Which game are you looking forward to the most this month?
