Battlefield Labs Announced: The Franchise’s Largest Community Collaboration Project
The Battlefield series has been a pioneer in the world of war-themed games for over two decades. Today, Battlefield Labs, the franchise’s most ambitious community collaboration project to date, has been officially unveiled. This initiative aims to involve players directly in the development process, shaping the future of the series.
What is Battlefield Labs?
Battlefield Labs will play a critical role in developing the next installment of the series. The project allows players to test unreleased mechanics and concepts, providing developers with direct feedback. Vince Zampella, President of Respawn and Group General Manager of EA Studios, stated: “Battlefield Labs offers the perfect opportunity to test experiences our teams are working on. Community feedback will shape our future games.”
How Can You Participate?
Players interested in joining the first testing phase of Battlefield Labs can register at battlefield.com/labs. Initial tests will be conducted on select servers in Europe and North America, with plans to expand server locations and participant numbers in the future. Note that not all registrants will be invited. Selected players will receive an email notification from [email protected].
Supported Platforms
Battlefield Labs will be accessible on PC (via EA App), PlayStation 5 (PlayStation Plus subscription required), and Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Game Pass Core subscription required). The project operates on an invitation-only basis, allowing participants to share feedback directly with developers during test sessions.
How Will Feedback Be Collected?
Battlefield Labs participants can communicate with development teams via a dedicated Discord channel. Feedback gathered will play a pivotal role in shaping the next Battlefield title. Insights from test sessions will also be shared through public updates, ensuring all players stay informed about the development process—even those unable to join the Labs.
Who Makes Up Battlefield Studios?
Battlefield Labs is developed under the Battlefield Studios umbrella, a coalition of four studios:
- DICE (creator of the Battlefield series),
- Ripple Effect (working to bring fresh experiences to the franchise),
- Motive (known for titles like Star Wars Squadrons and Dead Space),
- Criterion (renowned for globally acclaimed racing franchises).
This diverse team is united by a bold vision for the future of Battlefield.
Next Steps
Battlefield Labs marks a major step forward for the franchise. Player feedback will help developers prioritize features and deliver a more authentic Battlefield experience. Initial test sessions will begin in the coming weeks, offering participants a chance to become part of the development journey.
