Concord Servers Shutting Down: A Major Disappointment
PlayStation exclusive Concord, not even 10 days after its launch, is preparing to shut down its servers on September 6, 2024, following its disastrous performance. The game, which was launched with high hopes, failed to generate the expected interest among players.
8 Years to Make, 9 Days to Shut Down
Concord was released simultaneously for PlayStation 5 and PC on August 23, 2024, after 8 years of development. However, the game quickly became the target of heavy criticism and disappointed with its sales figures. The game, which reportedly reached only 25,000 sales in total, is now facing shutdown just days after its release.
Servers Shutting Down, Refunds Begin
It has been announced that all players who purchased the game will receive refunds. Purchases made through the PlayStation Store will be refunded directly. A similar refund process will be implemented for purchases made through digital stores like Steam and Epic Games Store.
Major Disappointment for Players
The rapid demise of Concord might serve as a warning for major companies. Almost all large companies are focused on creating live service games to maximize profits. Every game that fails on this path marks an important step for the future of the gaming industry. Concord joins the live service game graveyard alongside titles like Suicide Squad and Marvel’s Avengers. Players who purchased the game will no longer have access once the servers shut down.
